According to research by the Texas Electric Choice Education Program, when given access to the right information in a timely manner, consumers are inclined to take modify their power consumption. A separate California study found that consumers with smart meters reduced demand by 5.7 to 8.7 percent.

TXU Energy’s dashboard complements the customized at-home guidance provided through the recently enhanced Brighten Personal Energy Advisor, which offers personalized tips and how-to videos that can help avoid wasting energy via things like air leaks, faulty thermostats, insufficient insulation, water heater settings, HVAC inefficiency and more.
The Brighten iThermostat gives real-time HVAC settings to enable consumers to track and monitor estimated heating and cooling costs, customize daily indoor temperature, and change thermostat settings via the Internet. It comes with a mobile website (txu.com/control) compatible with the latest models of smart phones.
