Malaysia has the third largest economy in South East Asia and is working to ensure affordable, secure, and cleaner energy to sustain its economic growth. Officials believe that having a smart grid will help the country modernize its twenty-first century energy infrastructure to meet that goal.
The MOU was signed by Datuk Seri Ir. Azman Bin Mohd TNB president and chief executive officer and Bryan Spear, Trilliant’s managing director for Asia Pacific. Also present were James Steele, the US State Department’s senior advisor of economic policy in East Asia Pacific, and TNB chairman Tan Sri Leo Moggie.
TNB’s Azman says, “We are delighted to have this technical exchange collaboration with Trilliant as we look to build a smart energy infrastructure to deliver benefits to our customers and help Malaysia continue on its economic growth path. Trilliant is one of the global leaders in the smart grid industry and we look forward to a successful collaboration in reaching this goal.”
Spear from Trilliant adds: “We are honored to have this technical collaboration with TNB, one of the leading utilities in the region, to work together in leveraging our proven technology and experience to help deliver the benefits of a smarter grid to TNB’s customers. We look forward to a long-term technical exchange collaboration that will help enhance energy security and sustainability, and contribute to developing a sustainable high-tech industry in Malaysia.”
