A full-scale Smart Grid needs to integrate distribution automation, metering, and demand-side management in order to fulfill its potential and provide the expected long-term benefits through operational efficiencies, renewable resources integration, peak-demand shifting, and consumer-enablement programs. To seamlessly integrate and take full advantage of the smart grid, however, it’s necessary to understand how the Smart Grid impacts the IT department and the head-end systems required to manage it, and plan accordingly.
The webinar addresses those issues and will also offer detailed discussions regarding the management challenges associated with a Smart Grid deployment, including deploying an end-to-end solution using smart grid architecture; verifying and scaling operations; expectations for normal business management; and how to cope with outages and other events.
The panel will include Jason Poague and Mickey Nix. Poague is a software product manager at Trilliant who has over 10 years of experience in the telecommunications industry and, prior to joining Trilliant, served as the lead product manager for Symbol Technology’s network management products. Nix is a Senior Technical Staff Member in the IBM Tivoli Industry Solutions organization and specializes in architecting customer solutions for Intelligent Utility Network projects.
