Stark announced on May 20 that its Clarity automatic meter reading and data collection service had received accreditation from Elexon as a non-half hourly (NHH) data collector and data aggregator. Established under the Balancing and Settlement Code (BSC), Elexon helps establish standards for the British power industry.
Stark produces a number of innovative data management products and services that allow commercial and industrial companies to meet their carbon emission reduction requirements and reduce energy costs and consumption at the same time. The firm works for every electrical supplier in the country.
The Clarity automatic meter reading (AMR) and data collection service is available for not only electricity but also water and natural gas. Data can be collected and aggregated at half-hour intervals or otherwise.
This latest accreditation allows Stark to market its service for projects where data is to be compiled at intervals other than a half-hour. The company achieved half-hour accreditation in 2002 and has been registered as a NHH data retriever since 2007. Stark has been registered with OFGEM, the UK’s regulator for electric and natural gas markets, since 2006.
“Adding NHHDC/DA [non-half hourly data collector/data aggregator] to our existing portfolio of accredited data collection services greatly enhances our capabilities,” said Howard Stark, managing director of the firm. “To date, we have focused on marketing our smart metering service directly to consumers.”
“Now, we can offer a comprehensive NHH package to suppliers as well and I am delighted to announce that suppliers Opus Energy and Ecotricity are the first two customers for our new NHH smart metering service – with more currently in the pipeline,” continued Stark.
Opus Energy announced its new partnership with Stark also on May 20. The energy provider provides free smart meters to its customers. Stark will provide smart metering services including remote data collection and meter operations for the electricity supplier.
“Our long term ambition is to ensure all our customers have smart meters installed and in order to do this we need to make sure we have the capacity at our fingertips,” said Charlie Crossley Cooke, managing director of Opus Energy. “By expanding our portfolio of smart meter providers, we now have strengthened our ability to roll them out faster.”
“We recently extended our portfolio of accredited data collection services to include a smart metering service and are delighted that Opus Energy is one our first customers,” added Stark. “We have a strong record of developing and marketing a range of innovative data management products that help organisations cut energy waste, reduce energy expenditure and meet their carbon reduction commitments. Introducing a smart metering market product was a natural step and we are excited to be rolling out our service to many of Opus Energy’s customers.”
Stark’s DC/DA service is one of very few that is capable of collecting data from all Elexon-approved NHH smart meters available on the market such as the EDMI Mark 10, the Iskraemeco MT375, and the PRI Sprint meter.
“Being able to dial into all types of meter is very attractive to those consumers who have already upgraded to smart meters and who are looking to take advantage of our superior collection performance and our outstanding data services, added Stark.
