Smart home technology company AlertMe, was honored with the award for Best Home Energy Monitor at the 2012 Smart Metering UK and Europe Awards. AlertMe’s product was singled out for its technology’s “usability, intelligent energy management platform, and ability to connect with the customer to help reduce energy usage and costs.”

The awards ceremony took place at Lancaster London Hotel on January 26, 2012, at the annual Smart Metering UK & Europe Summit, which attracted more than two hundred industry leaders. In addition to the award to AlertMe, several other companies were honored including British Gas for customer services innovation. Utility of the Year went to EDP for solutions that provide low carbon emissions and energy efficiency. Scottish Power won the Customer Services Innovation award. Ericsson took home the Network and Communications award and Smart Metering And technology of the year went to Maxim Integrated Products for their Newport Smart Meter Platform. 

Other winners included eMeter for Smart Meter Data Management; Telvent was honored with the Smart Metering service provider award; Echelon won best innovation of the year, and the Smart Water Metering Award went to Kamstrup.

The European Smart Metering Awards recohnize and honor the achievements in the smart energy industry. All award entries were judged by an independent panel of industry experts.
