Telvent technology for concentrated solar power plant

Telvent will provide Abengoa with the necessary tools to meet the unique needs of its concentrated solar power plant and parabolic troughs. According to Telvent, the solar field control system “will coordinate the plant mirrors’ movement in precise accordance with the sun’s angle. Concurrently, the system will manage communications between the controllers and the incoming field data. Giving Abengoa operators a user-friendly interface to review information from the field, the DCS will help streamline plant operations while maximizing efficiency and energy output.”

Telvent’s chairman and chief executive officer (CEO), Ignacio Gonzalez, explains, “For the last decade, Telvent has worked closely with Abengoa on all of its solar energy projects. Our adaptable solutions help them operate some of the cleanest and largest power plants in the world, providing them with support and security for critical infrastructure. We are proud to continue our partnership with them and expand our leadership in the solar sector.”

Telvent was selected for the project because of its experience in solar power controls, quality engineering, and the ability to support a large-scale project.

Telvent provides IT solutions and business information services to markets that are critical to the sustainability of the planet, including the energy, transportation, agricultural and environmental sectors. For more information, visit www.telvent.com.
