Holcomb has more than 28 years of experience in the public power and communications industries, including serving as the President and CEO of Pulaski Electric System (PES) Energize, an electric power and telecommunications utility located in Pulaski, Tennessee. While at PES, he oversaw the successful implementation of a fiber network that provides voice, video, data services, and smart grid/AMI applications to the utility’s customers.
In 2008, Holcomb also served on the Tennessee Valley Public Power Association (TVPPA) Board of Directors as vice chairman. Tantalus believes his experience in the Tennessee Valley will help the company “to be in the forefront of industry issues as the company continues to gain traction with many of the progressive utilities located in the Tennessee Valley as well as in other areas of North America.”
Previously, Holcomb served as a Senior Consulting Manager at Virchow Krause and Company and General Manager at Lowell Light and Power and Cable Television in Lowell, Michigan.
Tantalus chief executive officer Eric Murray says, “Ron joins Tantalus during a period of exciting growth. His deep utility and telecommunications roots are a fitting combination for Tantalus, which operates at the intersection of those two worlds.”
Holcomb will be based at Tantalus’ commercial headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina, which continues to expand as demand for the company’s fast, reliable and future-proof technology increases. TUNet’s patented and patents pending technologies are purpose built for the Smart Grid.
Tantalus provides two-way, real-time data communications networks to monitor and control electric, gas and water utilities via TUNet, the Tantalus Utility Network, which is an end-to-end WAN/LAN/HAN communications system that operates with 220 MHz RF, 900 MHz, and IP-based networks including Fiber, WiMAX and GPRS/cellular, either individually or in combination.
The Tantalus network unites a utility’s applications, making advanced metering, outage management, power quality monitoring, load control, and distribution automation cost-effective and practical throughout both urban and rural service areas. For more information, visit www.tantalus.com.
