Itron and Krohne have announced a partnership that will provide advanced water meter technology to utilities around the world. Under the terms of the agreement, signed recently at Itron’s facility in Mâcon, France, Krohne will supply water meters that leverage electromagnetic technology for Itron’s portfolio.
Brazil’s second largest water utility, Companhia de Saneamento de Minas Gerais (COPASA), announced it will install an additional 63,000 Elster water meters as part of its current deployment with Elster Medicao de Agua. COPASA will deploy a combination of glass and plastic cover S120 water meters. The deployment is scheduled to begin in July 2011 and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
Elster (NYSE: ELT) today announced that Companhia de Saneamento de Minas Gerais (COPASA), Brazil’s second largest water utility, is expanding its existing deployment with Elster Medicao de Agua S/A and installing 63,000 new Elster water meters.
Wessex Water, Bristol Water, and Sembcorp Bournemouth Water have selected Elster to supply up to 150,000 volumetric polymer water meters over the next three years.
The Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority has selected Sensus to provide its FlexNet communications network for an advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) program. The utility will deploy FlexNet across its service territory and retrofit all commercial meters with smart endpoints to improve operational efficiency and adhere to water conservation programs in the metro Albuquerque area.
Tropos Networks, which provides wireless IP broadband networks for the smart grid, has completed installation of a Tropos GridCom network for the City of Stillwater’s Department of Water Utilities. The network serves as the communications infrastructure for backhaul of the utility’s automatic meter infrastructure (AMI) rollout.
Aquiba has selected Energy Micro’s EFM32 Gecko microcontroller for its A200 smart water meter. Chosen for its ultra low power performance, processing capability, and peripheral set, the EFM32G890F128 microcontroller handles the A200’s high accuracy flow measurement, data logging, secure communication and application firmware upgrades. The A200 also built-in flexibility so utilities can adapt to meet future metering requirements.
