Cleveland’s Division of Water has selected Elster AMCO Water C700 meters to be included in its advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) project, which will begin deploying the meters in Q3 with a projected completion date in 2013. The city plans to install 100,000 C700 meters and utilize retrofit kits for 51,000 existing Elster meters in its service area.
Proximetry, which provides wireless network and performance management software, has appointed smart grid expert Andres Carvallo Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer. Carvallo previously served as Chief Information Officer at Austin Energy where he was the chief architect of the first fully deployed smart grid in the United States. At Proximetry, Carvallo is expected to advance Proximetry’s wireless network management solution. While Carvallo’s primary focus is delivering solutions in the oil, gas, and electricity markets, he will also be responsible for product strategy for the public safety, telecommunications, and transportation industries.
