Duke Energy Ohio has petitioned regulators to approve an Electric Security Plan (ESP) for its customers beginning Jan. 1, 2012. Under terms of the proposal, rates would be in effect through May 31, 2021.
Progress Energy has selected IBM as the lead systems integrator for the utility’s smart grid program. The two companies will collaborate on transforming Progress Energy’s networks by improving power efficiency, increasing power quality and reliability, and enhancing capabilities for renewable energy, energy storage systems, and plug-in electric vehicles.
Telvent’s Outage Management System has passed the industry’s first smart grid interoperability test by the Electrical Power Research Institute of the International Electrotechnical Commission/Common Information Model (IEC/CIM) 61968 standard, Part 9 profile for meter data interchange. Telvent is only one of only two companies, along with General Electric, to achieve recognition by EPRI for its OMS solution.
