Petra Solar has announced the international expansion of its SunWave family of Solar Energy Solutions, featuring a new Smart Energy Module (SEM) that is designed to convert solar photovoltaic DC electricity to 230 volt AC while supporting electric grid reliability. They system, for use in the Pacific Rim, Europe, and the Middle East, has been certified to international grid standards including CE, IEC62109, G83, AS/NZS3100 and AS4777 for safety and electrical compliance.
The Chief Technology Officer of Petra Solar, Dr. Johan Enslin, will present on the first day of the Networked Grid conference taking place in San Francisco, CA on May 3-4, 2011. Dr. Enslin will join grid management experts on The Emergence of Next-Generation Power Electronics for Grid Optimization, Monitoring and Actuation panel to discuss the changing dynamics of the electric grid and the need for intelligent, quick responding, and high performance equipment driven by advanced power electronics. The panel takes place from 2:45 pm – 3:45 pm on May 3rd.
Petra Solar has appointed Dan Brdar as Chief Operating Officer. In his new position, Brdar will be responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of the company’s sales, marketing, operations, and engineering organizations.
Petra Solar has appointed John S. Rego chief financial officer and treasurer. As CFO, Rego will be responsible for the company’s accounting, finance, treasury, taxation, human resources, public relations, and information technology. Rego has more than 25 years of executive leadership experience in building technology companies. Prior to joining Petra, Rego spent seven years with Vonage Holdings Corp. as executive vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer and was responsible for raising over $1.3 billion in capital.
AT&T has signed a new agreement to combine Petra Solar’s smart grid and renewable energy technology with the telecom’s wireless network in order to offer utilities improved power quality and grid reliability. Petra Solar’s solution enables utility companies to simultaneously address Renewable Portfolio Standard requirements and invest in a smart grid technology.
