MISO Moves Forward with Synchrophasors

The Midwest Independent System Operator (MISO) has installed and integrated the first 44 synchrophasors, advanced electronic measurement devices known as phasor measurement units (PMU), at strategic points along the regional transmission network. The $34.5 million program is partially funded by a $17.3 million Recovery Act grant awarded by the United States Department of Energy to modernize the nation’s electrical grid.
