It’s been a busy week for the IPSO Alliance, which made several announcements. In the first, the organization welcomed four new members: energy management company GreenWave Reality; Corporative Intelligence Laboratory S.L. of Spain; ElectroTest Sweden AB; and smart meter provider Sensus have all joined as Contributor members.
Lockheed Martin has become a promoter member of the IPSO Alliance, a non-profit association of more than 50 members from leading technology, communications, and energy companies. The Alliance’s mission is to enable the foundation for a network that will allow any sensor-enabled physical object to communicate to another. Larry Easton, director of Lockheed Martin’s Ventures for Information Systems and Global Solutions-Defense, says, “Collaborating with the IPSO Alliance will help ensure cross-vendor interoperability as well as promote greater use of IP-based Smart Grid solutions. IP has proven itself as a stable, reliable and scalable technology and we believe that Internet Protocol for smart objects will enable new functionality for mission critical applications.”
The ZigBee Alliance, and the IP for Smart Objects (IPSO) have announced plans to collaborate on expanding wireless home area networks (HAN) using IP technology represented by the ZigBee IP specification and the ZigBee Smart Energy version 2.0 standard.
