Smart Grid Shows Mettle During Heat Wave

The importance of smart grids and their related technologies is no longer theoretical. Despite the unprecedented heat wave scorching large swaths of the United States, utility companies have been able to prevent outages and handle the intense power demand throughout the lingering triple digit temperatures. Utility execs credit demand response with helping them navigate through the heat wave.

TXU Signs Agreement with Comverge

TXU Energy has announced a new multi-year purchase, installation, and service agreement with Comverge, Inc. The exclusive agreement enables TXU Energy to expand, with plans to deploy 100,000 smart energy efficiency devices such as TXU Energy iThermostats and TXU Energy PowerMonitors in homes and businesses throughout Texas by 2012.

Comverge Renews Deal with NV Energy

Comverge, Inc has renewed their contract with NV Energy to continue managing the 143 megawatt smart grid-ready demand response program, the industry’s largest. Comverge will also provide its SuperStat programmable communicating thermostats. The two longstanding partners may also explore additional demand response technologies to support their Advanced Service Delivery (ASD) roll-out.
