Itron and Krohne have announced a partnership that will provide advanced water meter technology to utilities around the world. Under the terms of the agreement, signed recently at Itron’s facility in Mâcon, France, Krohne will supply water meters that leverage electromagnetic technology for Itron’s portfolio.
Petra Solar has announced the international expansion of its SunWave family of Solar Energy Solutions, featuring a new Smart Energy Module (SEM) that is designed to convert solar photovoltaic DC electricity to 230 volt AC while supporting electric grid reliability. They system, for use in the Pacific Rim, Europe, and the Middle East, has been certified to international grid standards including CE, IEC62109, G83, AS/NZS3100 and AS4777 for safety and electrical compliance.
Later this year 800 Arizona Public Service (APS) customers will participate in a two-year Home Energy Information pilot to test a range of smart technologies designed to provide them with more control over their energy use. Customers will be able to see their energy usage displayed in real time on countertop devices, personal computers, and smart phones, enabling them to change daily habits in response to the data they are given.
Smart Grid communications provider Tantalus is sponsoring a Smart Grid conference hosted by Chattanooga utility Electric Power Board (EPB) on May 5 at The Chattanooga Hotel. The event includes an offsite tour of EPB’s Smart Grid program, which features Tantalus’ advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) technology. EPB is currently deploying Tantalus’ Homerun Network, a solution that enables the utility to use its Fiber to the Home (FTTH) infrastructure to connect hundreds of thousands of utility endpoints while providing customers with internet, phone, and TV media services.

Remote Energy Monitoring Ltd (REM) and Infotech Enterprises Ltd have unveiled a new interface between SAP’s Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and REM’s Smart Meter Operations Suite (SMOS). The announcement came during the Centre of Excellence opening in Holborn, London.
