Vancouver, Cisco and Pulse Energy are collaborating to develop Vancouver’s goals of advancing clean technology, developing a network of specialized partners, and improving energy efficiency and management. Beginning in 2010, the three partners implement technologies for building-energy management, home-energy management, urban carbon-footprint reduction, and data center efficiency.
Google has entered the wholesale energy market in a big way by signing a 20 year-deal to buy power from a NextEra Energy wind farm. Starting July 30, the Internet search giant will buy, through its subsidiary Google Energy LLC, 114 megawatts of wind generation at a fixed price each year from NextEra’s facility in Story County, Iowa. Google will then sell the power back to the energy grid through the regional spot market.
Certification company TÜV NORD CERT will attend PowerGen Europe 2010, to be held June 8-10 in Amsterdam. The PowerGen conference and exhibition showcases Europe’s energy economy. Participants from TÜV NORD CERT will provide information on cost reduction and tax breaks for certification of energy management systems according to the new EN 16001 standard as well as certification for carbon capture readiness, green heat, and green electricity.
