Duke Energy to Work with DOE to Enhance Grid

The Department of Energy’s (DOE) Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) has signed a partnership deal with Duke Energy, and the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), a non-profit research organization that focuses on the electric power utility industry both in the United States and internationally to identify opportunities for testing and deploying ARPA-E funded projects that enhance the electric grid.

Department of Energy Awards $4 Million to Planar Energy

Large format battery developer Planar Energy has received $4 million from the United States Department of Energy. The grant was announced in Washington, D.C., by Vice President Joe Biden and U.S. Secretary of Energy Stephen Chu at a Recovery Act Cabinet meeting. It was awarded as part of the DOE’s Advanced Research Project Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) initiative to promote transformational energy research projects.
