Professor Jim Skea, Research Director at the United Kingdom Energy Research Center (UKERC) and Jeremy Nicholson, Senior Advisor to the European Energy Forum (EEF) Energy Intensive Users Group, have been chosen to co-chair the event. The two day conference will be held at Murray Edwards College, Buckingham House Conference Centre, Cambridge, on June 23-24, 2011.
Participants include experts from Siemens Metering, Siemens Wind, ARM, Renesas, CamSemi, Microsort Research, UK Power Networks EDF, E.ON, Climate Change Capital, novusmodus, Mainstream Renewable Power, AlertMe, Schneider Electric, and Landis+Gyr.
Keynote speakers will include Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) Chair of the Office of Research and Economic Development; Office of Gas and Electricity Markets (Ofgem) CEO; and EDF Energy UK.
The first day of the event will focus on consumer-facing marketing, price control, competition, regulation and innovation in structural energy efficient design. Smart energy management through metering delivery, platform through demand side management through interoperability, and standards at grid level will also be examined.
On the second day, the role of nuclear and renewables-combined fossil fuel plants, renewable power generation and the energy gap will be addressed, along with discussions on who are the leading players, who trades with whom, what are the market drivers, trends, consumer psychology and opportunities, and what are the commercial frameworks and focus strategies being executed.
