Samsung SDS is a Smart Grid advocate in the Asian market and in eMeter found a global technology partner that could offer value with regard to key qualifications including scalability, interoperability, agnostic to meters and an advanced interface. Plus, eMeter’s extensive experience in both the North American and European markets made the company a compatible fit for Samsung SDS.
Lisa Caswell, eMeter’s VP of World Wide Alliances says her company was “proud to be working with market leader Samsung SDS to help bring the newest energy information platform technologies to Korean utilities. eMeter’s partnership with Samsung further extends eMeter’s partner ecosystem with access to AMI vendors and upstream technologies such as SAP and others that support the market and we look forward to building on the partnership throughout the rest of the Asian market.”
“Through our partnership with eMeter we managed to secure global smart grid solution,” said Sung Hoon Kim, CTO and EVP of Technology Division at Samsung SDS. “Samsung’s partnership with eMeter will be a key driver to lead the smart grid market.”
The partnership is expected to boost Korea’s goal of investing $21.6 billion between 2010 and 2030 and having 100 percent deployment of smart meters, based on the Korea Smart Grid Roadmap. The importance of the Smart Grid was highlighted by recent events: the earthquake in Japan and the summer power shortage in China raise an issue of power supply as an environmentally-damaging factor. Utilizing smart grid and controlling power demand is seen as more effective than increasing power plants.
eMeter provides essential software that enables electric, gas and water utilities to realize the full benefits of Smart Grid. For more information, visit www.emeter.com.
