By using the Aztech IHD enabled by Elster, Peterborough Utilities will also provide customers with detailed notifications with time-of-use periods as well as easy-to-read screen displays. Peterborough Utilities has deployed residential and commercial water and electricity meters.
David Whitehouse, Peterborough Utilities’ Director of Customer and Corporate Services and Conservation Officer, explains, “The solution works wirelessly with the existing Elster meters that we have installed. The Elster network has been very impressive, allowing us to leverage this investment for significant customer benefits. The information on the display provided to the customer is generated from actual metering information used in billing. We are also able to make adjustments to time-of-use periods and will be able to make changes to IHD rates through our network so no customer intervention is required.”
Elster Metering Canada vice president and general manager Jack Robertson adds: “Elster is pleased to assist Peterborough with this important and forward-thinking initiative. Having already implemented Elster metering solutions for electricity and water, Peterborough understands the benefits of leveraging this investment for a better customer experience and reduced cost.”
Elster provides electricity, gas, and water measurement and control via distribution monitoring and control, advanced smart metering, demand response, networking and software solutions, and numerous related communications and services.
