PRI is at the forefront of smart meter innovation and manufacturing.  The company, with operations in 50 countries worldwide, provides intelligent energy management solutions for clients around the globe.  PRI is dedicated to pushing the edge of smart technology capabilities in order to better manage resources in the most efficient manner and reduce carbon emissions at the same time.

The company has developed smart electric and gas metering products and communication technologies to facilitate better power management.  In addition to smart meters, PRI’s product line includes display devices, controls, and data retrieval, energy management software, and managed services.

PRI has long been a technological leader in the UK having produced the first tariff-approved electronic meter two decades ago.  The company encourages innovation and continues to invest heavily in research and development through its association with parent company Entity Group.

Customers of the company have implemented advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) solutions, and utilities have provided its smart meters to their own customers.  Adaptations of smart technology have enabled entirely new market sectors to develop and thrive.  PRI is able to provide smart metering solutions tailored to its customers’ needs.

Who are REM and what makes them smarter than the rest?

Remote Energy Monitoring,  an innovative British company who are involved in the design, development and deployment of a complete end to end SMART metering solution, have just been awarded official certification from Ofgem for their multimode smart meter.  This is no mean feat….

To gain certification from Ofgem, the regulatory body in the UK for all gas and electricity customers, meters have to go through a variety of rigorous tests to prove their durability and accuracy. Testing will involve  setting them on fire, freezing them, exposing them to electricity surges, disconnections  and tampering  All these scenarios are to help ensure that the meters are of a high enough standard for utilities to roll out to domestic customers.  This may sound like overkill but these are all scenarios that meters are regularly subjected to.  REM’s chairman, John Roberts, has encountered many of these in his former role of CEO of United Utilities – and so brings unrivalled experience to the company.

OnDemand renewable energy solution allows electric co-op to store excess renewable energy and release power during peak demand hours. Silent Power is partnering with Wright-Hennepin Cooperative Electric Association on a demonstration project to install its energy storage technology at Wright-Hennepin’s corporate offices in Rockford, Minnesota.

Secure Meters is the primary energy metering firm in India.  The company is the flagship operations of Entity Group – a $200 million global firm that develops energy metering systems and solutions.

Founded in 1988, Secure Meters introduced India’s first electric meter.  Today the company has grown exponentially, much like emerging India in the modern world.  Secure Meters does business in more than 50 countries and operates at 11 different locations around the world.

Secure Meters features a number of products capable of delivering the latest in smart grid technology.  At the substation level, the company offers the APEX smart metering system that allows for software integration, interface with communications technologies, and Availability Based Tariff (ABT) metering.

According to a survey of global utility companies and energy firms conducted by renewable Energy World Europe, the power industry is at odds over whether the EU can achieve its 20-20-20 targets, which calls for renewables accounting for 20 percent of its total by 2020. The survey found that 44 percent of respondents believe the EU will fail to meet its targets, with an equal number of respondent saying that it is too early to tell.
